The cause can also involve alignment, load, chain pull, lubrication, route geometry, support movement, take-up condition, process contamination, controls, or a modification that changed how the system operates.

Preventive Maintenance
Preventive maintenance should follow the selected equipment documentation, the plant environment, actual duty, and observed wear. A useful program identifies inspectable components, frequency, access, acceptance criteria, documentation, parts planning, and responsibility for follow-up repairs.
IMH can help review high-use turns, switches, drives, take-ups, trolleys, wheels, chain, carriers, track, supports, and recurring problem locations. Findings should distinguish monitor, plan, and repair-now conditions without implying that a visual inspection replaces required engineering, electrical, safety, or regulatory review.
Repair may be appropriate when the route and core equipment remain serviceable and compatible components are available. Modernization may fit when drives, controls, switches, carriers, supports, or selected route sections can be improved without replacing the full system. Replacement may be the better path when the structure or track is broadly compromised, capacity or process needs have changed beyond the original system, components are unavailable, or repeated work cannot produce dependable operation.
Some defined repairs can be planned for limited outages, but the scope depends on access, staging, parts, removal, alignment, utilities, testing, and what is discovered after equipment is opened. Share the real shutdown limit early.
