01 / THE PRODUCTION GOAL

Layout is part of the production plan.

A manufacturing cell works best when equipment, handling, and operator tasks support a defined production sequence. IMH helps organize the layout around the part flow, required work steps, access constraints, and future equipment interfaces.

02 / SCOPE & APPROACH

Turn the goal into a considered plan.

01 / ENGINEERING

Understand the work

Map the part family, process sequence, loading and unloading, operator tasks, and incoming and outgoing material. Identify where queues and travel interrupt production.

02 / ENGINEERING

Develop the layout

Coordinate equipment footprints, work zones, carrier paths, crane coverage, aisles, maintenance access, and supporting structure. Review alternative arrangements against the production goal.

03 / ENGINEERING

Define the interfaces

Locate equipment handoffs, utilities, support points, and access needs. Coordinate the cell with adjacent production and the building before detailed fabrication and installation.

03 / PROJECT INPUTS

Start with the facts that shape the system.

Share part drawings, production mix, target output, equipment footprints, operator tasks, building dimensions, columns, doors, utility locations, and expansion plans.

Outputs & assumptions

Layout deliverables can include concept alternatives, an equipment arrangement, material-flow routes, and a list of assumptions and open interfaces. The agreed project scope defines the drawing detail and implementation responsibility.
